Sofa and carpet cleaning in Mumbai: what to check before choosing a method

Understand fabric labels, pre-existing stains, drying time and scope before booking professional sofa or carpet cleaning.

Identify the fabric and the problem

Before booking, share the sofa or carpet material if known, approximate age, and the type and location of stains. Photograph the item in natural light. Care labels, manufacturer information and prior cleaning history can help a technician decide whether a method is suitable.

Different fibres, dyes, backing materials and finishes respond differently to moisture and agitation. A treatment that works for one fabric may mark, shrink or affect another, so avoid applying a strong household cleaner before a professional assessment.

Ask how the work will be carried out

Clarify whether the service includes vacuuming, spot treatment, extraction or another method, and which pieces or cushions are included. Ask whether colour-fastness or a discreet test is needed, how long drying may take under your home’s ventilation conditions, and whether the team moves furniture.

Mumbai humidity and room ventilation can affect drying time. Plan to keep the area ventilated and avoid using the furniture until the service provider’s aftercare guidance says it is ready.

Set realistic expectations for stains

Older, heat-set or previously treated stains may not come out completely. Aggressive scrubbing can damage pile or spread a mark. Tell the technician what caused the stain if you know, what was applied before, and whether the fabric has changed colour or texture.

A useful quote names the items, method, exclusions and expected aftercare. Confirm those details before work starts, especially for expensive, delicate or sentimental furnishings.
